Latest Updates of IUFRO Statutes and Internal Regulations
The Statutes and Internal Regulations of IUFRO constitute the legal basis of IUFRO and its governance. While the Statutes define the fundamental framework of our organization, the Internal Regulations specify the procedures for implementing them. Both documents are subject to regular review and updating.
The most recent major revisions to these guiding documents were made in March 2023. Since then, a few items have emerged that required additional changes. While changes to the Statutes need formal approval by the International Council, based on the recommendation by the Board, changes in the Internal Regulations require Board approval only.
The latest proposed amendments submitted to the Board and International Council related to aligning IUFRO's Statutes and Internal Regulations with the requirements of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the International Science Council. They also include provisions for the newly established Division Communications Coordinator position, as well as updates and clarifications regarding officeholder roles and membership.
Through an electronic Board ballot vote held from 19 June – 3 July 2026, the IUFRO Board approved the submitted changes to the Internal Regulations and made a recommendation to the International Council to approve proposed changes to the Statutes. The International Council approved changes to the Statutes via electronic ballot vote held from 8-29 July 2026.
