Combatting Pine Wilt Disease Needs Customized Approaches




Due to the worldwide spread of pine wilt disease, the IUFRO Working Party on Pine Wilt Disease organizes international meetings at intervals of 3-4 years with the venues alternating between Europe and Asia. A total of 203 participants from Korea, Canada, China, England, France, Indonesia, Japan, Portugal, Russia, and Spain attended the 2016 symposium in Seoul. More

The scientific conference series Innovations in Forest Industry and Engineering Design (INNO) has been held every autumn since 2008. The 2016 conference is the 8th in the series and was held from 3 to 5 November 2016 in Yundola - Rhodopa Mountains, Bulgaria. More

 

 

 


Obituary: Emil Klimo




We are very sorry to inform you that Professor Emil Klimo passed away on 28 October 2016. He was a longtime educator and researcher at the Mendel University, Faculty of Forestry in Brno, Czech Republic and Coordinator of IUFRO Research Group 8.01.00 Forest ecosystem functions from 1996 – 2005. More

 

 

 

 


Obituary: Richard Hermann




Friday, Oct 14, 2016 marked the peaceful passing of Richard (Dick) K. Hermann at the age of 92. Dr. Hermann was an outstanding international representative for Oregon State University. He served as the leader of several working parties in IUFRO Division 1: (1965–1981); as Coordinator of Division 1 (1981–1986); and as a member of the IUFRO Executive Board (1981–1986). More

 

 

 

 

 


New scientific report on "Illegal Logging and Related Timber Trade"




The IUFRO-led Global Forest Expert Panels Initiative of the CPF (Collaborative Partnership on Forests) will present its rapid response assessment on "Illegal Logging and Related Timber Trade - Dimensions, Drivers, Impacts and Responses" on 3 December at the forthcoming CBD COP13 in Cancun, Mexico. More

 

 

 


New Database: Forestry Education at Your Fingertips




The first major product of the Joint IUFRO-IFSA Task Force on Forest Education, a forestry education database produced in partnership with the Global Forest Information Service (GFIS), is now online. More
