Dear colleague,

this email is a gentle reminder on the call of sessions for the next IUFRO All-Division 5 conference "Future Forest Use: Advancing Wood Science and Forest Products for a Circular Bioeconomy" in 2027 in Tartu, Estonia.

It is on us to create an attractive conference programme with interesting sessions to invite colleagues to share their science and research with us and discuss the future of sustainable forestry, wood science, forest products and the circular bio-economy. The conference will be jointly organised in cooperation with the International Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST) and the Estonian University of Life Science.

The call for sessions is still open, submission deadline is 15 March, 2026. Please team up with colleagues coordinating the numerous research groups and working parties of IUFRO Division 5 (https://www.iufro.org/divisions/50000-forest-products ) and submit a session proposal to create the attractive scientific programme of the conference. Also cross-linking to other IUFRO divisions’ research groups and working parties is a good idea to reflect on the diversity of topics related to forest products.

The conference will address several key topics, including:

•  Future Wood: Climate smart forest management and silviculture for forest tree growth, wood yield and quality. 
•  Wood Science: From wood anatomy to the analytics of mechanical, physical and chemical properties.
•  Wood Valorization: Innovative approaches of wood engineering and wood technologies to convert biomass into energy, chemicals, fibers, and high-performance composites.
•  Non-Wood Products: Exploring the value of medicinal and edible components of forest crops.

It goes beyond wood, emphasizing the efficient, science-based use of forest resources for the good of mankind.
