These hands-on, build-scale experiences form part of the WBO Official Education Certification Program, setting a global benchmark for credible and impact-driven bamboo education. April 2026 | North Sumatra, Indonesia The Bamboo Unboxed Workshop, officially recognized now as a World Bamboo Certified Training, will take place at Orangutan Haven (OUH) in North Sumatra—an internationally recognized sanctuary for rescued orangutans and a hub for ecological education. This six-day intensive program
focuses on bamboo as a primary construction material and structural system, guiding participants through the full lifecycle of bamboo construction, from material selection and treatment to joinery, geometry, and collaborative assembly. The workshop integrates material intelligence, structural logic, and hands-on building within a living ecological context where architecture, landscape, and conservation intersect. Spaces are limited. Early registration is strongly recommended.
In July, the WBO brings its flagship European training and exchange event to Venice, Italy. The program opens on July 8 with the Global Bamboo Exchange Session, hosted by the World Bamboo Organization, convening international experts and World Bamboo Ambassadors to share global perspectives on bamboo innovation, professional practice, and real-world impact across architecture, construction, and development. From July 9–12, participants take part in the Hands-On Bamboo Construction Workshop, a four-day immersive, build-scale experience where international teams design and construct full-scale bamboo structures. The workshop explores organic forms, prefabricated systems, parametric geometries, and culminates in the collective construction of a central bamboo pavilion. Organized by Bamboo Architecture Company, hosted by VERAS – Vignole Renewable Energy & Healthy Agriculture, and officially certified by the WBO, the Venice program positions bamboo not as an alternative material, but as a mainstream solution for the future of the built environment. Spaces are limited. Early registration is strongly recommended. Hands-On Bamboo Construction Workshop in Venice, Italy
