together with the other two Editors we are honored to inform you about the initiation of a Special Issue in the Remote Sensing Journal devoted to the development of strategies, techniques and methodologies for habitat mapping using remote sensed data.

This issue is in accordance with the GEO strategies planned for 2016–2025 period and the attainment of the SDG 15 for preserving biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability.
