The IUFRO units 4.04.04, 4.04.06 and 3.04.00 are co-organizing with the University of Washington (Precision Forestry Coop) and the European Union Marie Skodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange Program (http://suforun.ctfc.cat/) the 2017 Symposium on Systems Analysis in Forest Resources (SSAFR) which will be held in Suquamish, Seattle, Washington, USA, August 27-30, 2017 (http://depts.washington.edu/ssafr17/). 

We welcome abstracts on the following themes:

·                Forest fire and invasive pest detection, management & control

·                Forest Decision Support Systems – development and use

·                OR/MS techniques for forest and landscape planning – strategic, operational and tactical levels

·                Forest supply chain optimization

·                Forest sector modeling: economics and policies

·                Bioenergy and biorefinery siting

·                Forest transportation & routing models

·                Spatially explicit harvest scheduling models

·                Remote sensing and geospatial informatics

·                Assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services

·                Modeling sustainability

·                Modeling uncertainty, hazard and risk in forest management

·                Optimal reserve selection models

·                Use of geodata and map services in analyzing spatial data

·                The carbon balance of the forest sector: projections under management options and climate scenarios
