Betreff: FEC2018 - Rotorua, New Zealand

Dear IUFRO Division 3 members,

Yes, it is time to sign up for FEC2018 to be held in Rotorua, New Zealand!! This truly international Forest Engineering conference only occurs once every 3 or 4 years; so dust off your travel bags, pack you swim gear and get ready to be part of it. Ideally you will submit an abstract (due by the 15th of Dec) and become part of the speaker programme, but we have plenty of space for those who just want to register, sit back, enjoy the atmosphere and “quench their thirst for new knowledge” (this is the theme of the conference after all).

For details please see the programme attached:

·         Monday is an optional workshop where in small groups you will spend the day with a leading NZ company in a theme of your choice.

·         Tuesday we have a great line-up of plenary session speakers, followed by concurrent technical sessions and the delicious conference dinner.

·         Wednesday is the all-day field trip, including the largest log loading port in NZ as well as modern logging operations. Lunch is at the beach!

·         Thursday is technical sessions, and an early finish to allow you to start you ‘non-technical’ activities…

While this FEC programme alone makes the trip to New Zealand worthwhile, Rotorua is a geothermal area with extensive tourist and outdoor sporting opportunities. Plan to stay a few days extra, bring your family.

We look forward to seeing you there,

Rien Visser, Mark Brown and Raffaele Spinelli
