International Union of Forest Research Organizations is pleased to announce the first SPIN Africa Regional Science-Policy Dialogue, taking place on 5 October 2026 under the theme "Bridging Science and Policy for Forest Governance in Africa."
Hosted at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this landmark dialogue will bring together scientists, policymakers, and regional organizations to strengthen connections between research and decision-making on Africa's forests and landscapes.
What to Expect
The dialogue will explore how science can better inform forest policy and action across Africa, with discussions addressing key priorities including forest landscape restoration, climate finance, biodiversity conservation, and climate mitigation and adaptation.
Participants will hear high-level perspectives and scientific insights, engage in interactive science-policy discussions, and explore opportunities for stronger regional collaboration through the SPIN Africa.
How to Join
The event will take place on-site in Addis Ababa, with online participation also available.
Online participants are invited to join the opening, keynote and science-policy sessions from 09:00–12:00 EAT, and to rejoin at 15:15 EAT for the final sessions, including the IUFRO World Congress Plenary and closing reflections.
