Sustainable Supply Chains for the Timber Economy of the Future

 

Final call for submissions

 

AUSTimber2016 will showcase timber and timber products in the new green economy and importantly the high-tech, sustainable industries that will drive its development into the future. Whether it is traditional timber and paper products or the emerging engineered timber building systems, biochemicals and bioenergy, all have a common cornerstone for success - efficient supply chains from sustainably managed forest resources.

 

As part of the AUSTimber2016 week of events, the Sustainable Supply Chains for the Timber Economy of the Future conference will bring together leaders from industry, research and technology providers to explore the latest developments, challenges and opportunities for sustainable forestry supply chains of today and the future.

 

The Sustainable Supply Chains for the Timber Economy of the Future conference is now inviting submissions for papers and posters for presentation in the program. Submissions should be targeted at one of the following themes:

• Right tool for the job - understanding and getting the best technology performance in the supply chain

• Measure, manage and repeat - capturing knowledge to optimise the management of the supply chain

• Profit in the wood - realising the highest value along the supply chain

• We are only as good as our people – managing human factors in the supply chain - training, ergonomics, etc.

• One man’s residue is another’s feedstock - supply chains to capture residues for bioenergy and biorefinery

• From idea to practice - effectively introducing new ideas, technology and systems for efficient supply chains

• One plus one equals three - integration of products and supply chains for improved profitability

• But that’s what you bought last time - responding efficiently to changing product/customer demands

• Think Green - energy efficient supply chains in a carbon constrained environment

• Who’s responsible for that - making all stakeholders in the supply chain profitable

 

Abstracts of 300 words or less should be submitted to Professor Mark Brown, Director of the Forest Industries Research Centre - USC at mbrown2@usc.edu.au or Dr. Mauricio Acuna, Senior Research Fellow - USC at macuna@usc.edu.au before 13 November, 2015.

 

Submissions will be reviewed by the conference technical committee and authors will be advised in December 2015 if they have been selected to present a poster, an oral presentation with extended abstract or a presentation with full paper to be considered for publication in a special edition of the International Journal of Forest Engineering.
