The first workshop of IUFRO Research Group 1.04.00 – Agroforestry with the title “Women in Agroforestry” is to be held from 28 to 29 November, 2013 at Kathmandu, Nepal and will be jointly hosted by Shtrii Shakti (S2), SEARCH Nepal (SN) and Nepal Foresters’ Association (NFA), Nepal.

 

The workshop shall address the various critical issues of gender roles in agroforestry and its sustainability. The contributions and plenary talks are expected to cover theoretical, methodological as well as empirical issues.

 

Papers are invited under the following sub-themes but cross-cutting thematic papers would also be considered:

• Understanding Agroforestry

o Role of women in agroforestry

o Forest-based agroforestry system

o Farm-based agroforestry system

o Climate change and its impact on agroforestry

• Sustainability: Approaches and Implications

o Ecological sustainability

o Economic approaches to sustainability

o Sustainability of social and cultural systems

o Equity, poverty and sustainability

 

We are calling on scientists to submit a 300-word abstract, highlighting specific theme/sub-theme, at the latest by 15 September, 2013. Acceptance of abstract will be communicated by 31 September, 2013.

 

Short-listed abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper. Authors must send in their contribution maximum of 10,000 words by 15 October, 2013 at the latest. Final acceptance will be communicated to the concerned authors by 30 October, 2013.

A limited amount of travel grant may be available to support some of the participants whose papers are accepted for presentation in the workshop. Selected papers from the workshop are expected to be published in a book by SEARCH Nepal.
