Dear colleagues,
We are organizing the scientific conference “Adaptive Silviculture of Complex Pine Stands: Challenges for Forest Persistence” at the Technical School of Forestry of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) on April 20th -22nd 2027. This international conference, organized by the Ecology and silviculture of pine Research Unit (1.01.10) of IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations), the Silviculture group of the Spanish Society of Forest Sciences (SECF), the Forestry School (UPM), the Forest Research Institute (ICIFOR, INIA-CSIC), and the participation of Units 1.01.12 (Silviculture and ungulates), 1.04.00 (Agroforestry) and 1.09.00 (Ecology and silviculture of mixed stands) of IUFRO, will serve as a gathering point for forest managers and researchers focused on the silviculture and ecology of pine forests worldwide.
The call for abstracts is now open until September 30, so you can submit your contributions for any of the five sessions we are proposing:
1. Vulnerability and adaptive capacity of pine forests
2. Adaptive management of pure and mixed pine forests
3. Non-native pine species as an alternative management strategy
4. Browsing as a challenge to natural regeneration in pure and mixed pine forests
5. Agroforestry with pine species
